WHEN JUSTICE HAS A WITNESS: A MESSAGE TO THOSE WHO HOLD THE LAW
To the judges.
To the attorneys.
To the guardians ad litem (GAL).
To the court investigators.
To every individual entrusted with the law and the power to shape lives—
Do the right thing when you have the opportunity.
Today, you may sit in a position of authority.
You may wear the title of judge, attorney, investigator, conservator, or guardian.
But remember this truth: positions are temporary—consequences are not.
When you know the truth, act on it.
Do not allow bias to blind justice.
Do not let the color of a person’s skin, their accent, their wealth, or their lack of power determine whether they are protected or abandoned.
We are all human.
Justice was never meant to be selective.
You took an oath.
An oath to protect.
An oath to fight for justice.
An oath to stand between innocence and abuse.
And yet—too often—those oaths are broken in silence.
When an innocent person is allowed to suffer while a criminal is protected, justice is not merely delayed—it is betrayed.
When money, influence, or prejudice interferes with truth, the courtroom becomes a stage for injustice.
Do not forget:
The same criminal you protect today may become the danger you face tomorrow.
The harm you ignore today may one day reach your family, your loved ones, or the very community you cherish.
Power does not make you untouchable.
It makes you accountable.
Remember this:
When you point one finger at another, three are pointing back at you.
History remembers.
Truth endures.
And justice—whether served by man or by time—always returns.
May you choose to do the right thing.
Even when no one is watching.
Especially when it costs you comfort.
